'Tis Pity She's a Whore - Rehearsals, Week 1

Since our meet and greet with the company on Monday in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, the cast have had a busy, but fun week in rehearsals.

Max Bennett (Giovanni) and Fiona Button (Annabella) had a photoshoot for our new poster, the company had a full read through of the play and some movement with choreographer Imogen Knight. These photos were taken during a warm up exercise before text work with Giles Block (Globe Associate - Text).

Sonnet 116 for Sonnet Friday

Our Sonnet for this week is inspired by the result of Scotland’s independence referendum yesterday.

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

'Tis Pity She's A Whore casting announcement

We’re very excited to announce the full casting for Michael Longhurst’s forthcoming ’Tis Pity She’s a Whore, opening the Winter season in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse on 28 October.

This new production of John Ford’s blackly sensual and viscerally violent play will find a perfect home in the shadowy intimacy of the candlelit Playhouse. Max Bennett and Fiona Button star as Giovanni and Annabella, the siblings whose doomed incestuous passion both threatens and throws into relief the incense-laden hypocrisy of the Italian court.
