“Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts.
Teach us things worth knowing.”
J K Rowling has recently announced that she will be writing a spinoff TV series from one of literature’s most famous creations and, as a result, interest in Harry Potter is on the rise again.
Sam Wanamaker is the Globe’s founder and we are honoured to have his daughter, Zoë Wanamaker, as our Honoury President. Zoë has tirelessly given us her support over the years, most recently for the building of the beautiful Jacobean theatre.
For the Globe’s Gala Dinner and Auction, Zoë has given us a very rare prize from the Harry Potter world – the last four lines of the Hogwarts school song, signed by the cast of the first film – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. This is only one of a couple in existence and is a true modern treasure.
Among the signatures we have the original Dumbledore, Richard Harris, and a number of the professors including the respective heads of Slytherin and Gryffindor – Alan Rickman and Dame Maggie Smith. There is also Madam Hooch herself – Zoë Wanamaker– as well as many of the children – headed, of course, by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.
Beautifully framed and mounted this will be a chance to own a precious piece of memorabilia from the Harry Potter stars at the start of the adventure.
