Tanned and freckley from performing in Malta earlier in the week, the Shrew gang are about to set up for an unusually long stop-over in the beautiful city of Oxford.
Famed for housing one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the world, we are very excited that Oxford will play host to our Shrews for a run of shows from 9 – 21 July.
The performances will take place at the University of Oxford’s Bodleian Library Quad, an idylic outdoor setting for this touring production of The Taming of the Shrew. Since our first visit to the Quadrangle in 2008 with The Winter’s Tale, we have looked forward to touring to this magical location which always welcomes Globe On Tour with open arms.
First opened to scholars in 1602, this spectacular set of buildings forms the historic heart of the university: generations of famous scholars have studied here through the ages. Among them five kings, 40 Nobel Prize winners, 26 prime ministers and writers including Oscar Wilde, CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien.
Bodleian Libraries are hosting a wonderful array of pre-show talks during this run; find out more.
