In this video we visit the Paint Room at the Central School of Speech and Drama where the ceiling panels for the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse are being painted.
John Greenfield (Reconstruction Architect) talks us through the sources and styles of the decoration which centres around Luna surrounded by cherub, clouds and stars. Details are highlighted out with gold leaf which will reflect the candle light being used to light the theatre.
See Scenic Artists Peter Cromby and Pierre Beaudry at work. They both also worked on the decoration of the Globe theatre, lending a consistency in the style and creatively linking the two theatres.
First season announced, performances from January 2014.
